Recordings Scratchpad

This is a rough page where I'm collecting various ideas and recordings I've made and clips to share with my friends...

Mean Blues take 2 I've tried to take an early idea and give it a bit more depth. I need to add a bit more flavour next, more chords so it actually goes somewhere...

Not So Mean Blues
I'd been messing around on an acoustic and thought maybe Mean Blues needed a lighter-hearted cousin?

Jazz Chords
This is the start of Ain't Misbehavin'. Funny how chords that sound rubbish on their own sound great when you link then all up.

Slow Texas Time
Not much of a Texas blues I think but the backing track was called "Slow Texas Blues" so who am I to argue?

Track 9
I've been jamming with my buddy Chris on keys and this is a rough cut of a session the other day. We mess about a little before the track starts... please forgive us.

Track 5 cut
Here's another clip from our last session - some good comping going on there, there might be hope for us yet!

Local Hero
I've finally made an effort to get the chords down to my favourite song and was of a mind to record a quick track. First I recorded the rhythm part into my Boss Loop Station and then used that to provide backing while I played a pretty mediocre lead part - not used to playing it at that pace, need more practice... and the sound is a bit rough because it's just a tie-clip mic next to my amp.

Local Hero with keys!
After Chris and I spent a couple of sessions on it, this is a mixed track of guitar, piano and strings.

Duke's Swing
A rather shakey take of me improvising. Great backing track - shame about the guitarist but maybe he has promise..?

Blues Is King
More of me rambling over another backing track.

Just me
Me, just sat here playing on my own.

Lick 1
A cool lick my buddy Jack showed me. Damn I love this lick.

Clip 1
An excerpt from some scale practice against this cool rhythm idea. I like this idea and I think I'll work on it.

Clip 2
A longer clip of the same sort of thing.

For anyone that might be interested, here's a diagram of the setup Chris and I use to record our jamming sessions: setup.pdf
