Geek Stuff
This section of the site is where I'm grouping information and articles about various technology projects of mine.
Media Center PC
The main feature here is my Media Center PC page where I tell you all about the slick PC I've built that has changed our lives. No, really, it has! All entertainment (TV, music, picture slideshows...) in the living room comes through one near-silent device beneath the TV. One device, one remote control, one user interface.
Building a good Media PC wasn't as easy as it first appeared so these pages talk you through the hardware and software tweaks for both the original WinXP MCE build and the recent upgrade to Windows Vista.
Along similar lines, people may be interested in my friend Mark's blog on Windows Home Server...
Linksys NSLU2 Tweaks
This sub-section describes some of the things I've done to my Linksys NSLU2 - re-flash the device with a linux-based OS, set it up as a print server, DDNS and DHCP. Maybe even a scanner server if I can find the time... OK, so it's not entirely necessary but it keeps me learning about Linux and network services and everyone's got to have a hobby!
Electricity Consumption
This is pretty geeky but in an eco-geek kind of way... I've been measuring my home electricity consumption and listed some results here.
Personal Reference
This section is more for me than you! A couple of pages of information which are really a reference for me when I'm either not logged in to my services or can't be bothered to reach up and get that Linux book down from the shelf...
